What it does

  • A plain-English family fit verdict, with the sub-scores that produced it shown rather than blended away.
  • Aware of your children's ages. A place that suits a toddler and a place that suits a nine year old are not the same place.
  • Aware of the month. Somewhere lovely in May can be unbearable in August, and the score says so.
  • Honest about where a place sits on the map, using the real boundary rather than the marketing label a resort gives itself.

Why we built it

We were the parents doing this on the sofa at 10pm, comparing places we'd never been, worried about getting it wrong for the kids, and finding nothing we could trust.

This is the passion project the asterisk on our home page is about. It's funded by booking links, never by a destination paying to score better. No number on the site is set by hand.

How far along it is

The catalogue grows one destination at a time, because each one gets researched and scored the same honest way. The Algarve and the Canary Islands are in; more follow as they're done.

We'd rather have ten places we can stand behind than a thousand we can't.
